Warm Hearts House in Kenya
The Warm Hearts House orphanage is currently “home” to 14 young people who came to us several years ago from the slums of Soweto in the East side of Nairobi, Kenja. Warm Hearts House is situated in the center of the Kwa Watoto School, which provides quality education and a hot meal to hundreds of kids in the Soweto Slums. The Warm Hearts Foundation not only supports the WHH orphanage but has over the years funded several projects at the school, including a deep water well which not only provides clean water to the school but to surrounding residents as well.
A promise was made to the kids when they entered WHH that if they did well in school and abided by our code of conduct we would support them all the way through post high school education. We are very pleased to report that most of them have taken us up on this. Two of our young men are in medical school in Uganda, and three young women are attending college in Nairobi. Others are in high school at St. Matthew’s Academy and middle school at Kwa Watoto School.
All of these “kids” are turning out to be wonderful young adults and we are very proud of them. Of course the cost of maintaining this program has increased dramatically as the kids have moved up to high school, college and medical school—and we are in need of additional sponsors. If you are interested in helping (at whatever level) please see our website for more information about becoming a sponsor.
